BrainDump is designed with a local-first approach. The app stores user data primarily on the user's device and does not operate its own cloud storage or processing backend.
BrainDump stores the following data locally on the user's device:
BrainDump requests microphone access only when the user explicitly starts recording.
Speech recognition is performed using Android on-device speech recognition services when available.
BrainDump does not upload recordings, transcripts, ideas, or summaries to BrainDump-owned servers.
BrainDump may optionally allow users to download local AI models directly from selected third-party model hosts.
BrainDump supports only non-gated in-app model downloads. Users may also manually download compatible local models separately and import them from device storage.
Exports, clipboard copies, and sharing actions are initiated explicitly by the user.
After exported content is shared or sent to another application, file location, or external service, that destination handles the data according to its own privacy practices and policies.
BrainDump does not use:
Automatic Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled.
Users may create their own manual exports and backups if desired.
Users can delete local BrainDump data from the application's Settings screen.
